Deaf Students in Sharjah to Learn American Sign Language Starting This School Year

deafkidsSharjah is one of the emirates of the United Arab Emirates. This fall at Al Amal School and Kindergarten, deaf students there will be introduced to new teaching methods, and they’ll also be able to learn ASL. According to Bassim Abdul Gaffar, Supervisor of Rehabilitation and Education at the school:

“The official language in the school is Emirati sign language, but we will start implementing American Sign Language to help students who want to study in the US after they graduate save money and time.”
