HIS Sign CEO Christina Hammrich (left), along with her team of Ilene Breneman, Jennifer Ilgenfritz, and Mike Walton, will be attending the Associate Continuing Education Tracking (ACET) sixth CMP cruise from November 9-14, 2013. Attendance and completion of the workshop will earn ASL interpreters 2.0 CEUs.
Traveling aboard the Liberty of the Seas and leaving port in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the extended cruise takes advantage of the Veterans Day holiday, and allows attendees to return on November 14th.
Christina looks forward to attending the line-up of workshops, which include:
“He Said, She Said” (presented by William “Bill” F. Ross III, CI/CT)
Highlights the differences between how discourse is retold or constructed in English and ASL; an oft cited concern in new interpreters.
“Interpreting Like Deaf People Talk” (presented by Sarah Houge – CDI, M.Ed, MA)
Addresses features that occur naturally in American Sign Language.
“Music that is Seen: A Spiritual Interpretation” (presented by Jon Shive – CI, CT, EIPA Level 5)
Focuses on the interpreter bringing a meaningful and spiritual interpretation to a variety of today’s religious music, including: hymns, contemporary songs, and choruses.
