Gallaudet University is pleased to announce the first International Symposium on Signed Language Interpretation and Translation Research to be convened in historic Washington, DC. The Symposium will be held on March 28-30, 2014 at Gallaudet University. The inaugural conference is hosted by the Gallaudet University Regional Interpreter Education Center (GURIEC), the Department of Interpretation, and the Interpretation and Translation Research Center.
The purpose of the Symposium is to promote the exchange of scholarship on signed language interpretation/translation and to serve as a platform for interdisciplinary research from various fields of study including linguistics, communication, sociology, psychology, anthropology, and education. The Symposium is intended to serve as a forum for scholars and students of signed language interpretation, translation, and related fields to gather and share knowledge with one another.
