The goal of this workshop is to increase the number of professional interpreters who are comfortable supporting DeafBlind individuals.
Two main areas of concern will be addressed: role variation as perceived by interpreters who serve DeafBlind individuals and the variety of communication methods used by DeafBlind individuals. Participants will work with partners to properly assess the needs of a partner playing the role of a DeafBlind individual, then interpret from ASL source text into the appropriate linguistic method for that individual.
This workshop will be conducted in ASL with no spoken English interpretation.
