Video Presentation for ASL Interpreters: Do Sign Language Interpreter Accents Compromise Comprehension?

Dr. Carol Padden, interim science director for the Science of Learning Center on Visual Language and Visual Learning (VL2) and a trustee emeritus, has become the first deaf person to be named a MacArthur fellow. She is one of 23 recipients this year of the prestigious award from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

Dr. Padden explores the idea of accent in ASL and discusses ways sign language interpreters can remediate patterns to improve clarity and enhance comprehension.
