Spotlight on Deaf Interpreter Institute

deaf terp book coverThe following announcement is not endorsed by HIS Sign, and has been posted here for information-sharing only.

Two NCIEC centers, the Regional Interpreter Education Center at Northeastern University (NURIEC) and the National Interpreter Education Center (NIEC), led the development of the NCIEC Deaf Interpreter Curriculum in collaboration with a team of six Deaf interpreter practitioners, educators, and curriculum specialists.

Their work established the intended scope and outcomes of the curriculum, created developmentally structured learning experiences and measurable outcomes. The team piloted the curriculum over a one-year period in the Massachusetts-based Road to Deaf Interpreting (RDI) program.

The Deaf Interpreter Curriculum can be found at www.diinstitute.org.  You can access each module or download the entire curriculum. In addition to the curriculum you will find a Deaf Interpreter Directory, a list of DI competencies, DI videos, and more.

The NCIEC recognizes the great effort that went into the creation and development of the curriculum.  A special thanks to the DI Curriculum Development Team Members.

As always, more resources can be found on the NCIEC website.
